Our current food system is broken. While we produce more than enough food to feed everyone on the planet, many still go hungry everyday, even on our very own doorsteps. A staggering almost 50% of all food grown in the U.S. goes to waste, straight into the trash bin. Homelessness is on the rise and much further displacement and food insecurity is expected due to increasingly unpredictable weather patterns. With the earth’s population expected to reach nine billion people by the year 2050, innovating our ailing food system is absolutely crucial.
Food Chariot hopes to live to see a world where all people have equal access to fresh, nutritious, delicious and sustainable food. We believe that we can make a difference and implement change by caring about the food that we eat. By increasing awareness about the food that we produce, by voting with our forks and carefully choosing what we buy, by ultimately regaining a long lost reverence for our food, we will hopefully move closer towards eradicating hunger in our communities.
Food Chariot vows to crusade against poverty and hunger, to do whatever possible to promote peace, love and social justice, and help feed mouths and minds. We are committed to making the most informed and ethically responsible choices possible when it comes to sourcing the ingredients that we bring to your table. With this is mind, it is our aim to create food which is both delicious and visually delightful, as well as being ethically and responsibly sourced.
As of January 2018, for every meal that we create for one of our clients, we will donate a meal to those experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles through our friends at Monday Night Mission.
